The Dorathy & J Journey
In October 2016, I started a brand called Dotty Fourrue selling customised fur pom pom keyrings online. I noticed a huge demand for these, everyone adored them, and people still ask if I make them almost a decade later!
My name is Jamie, I live in Liverpool and am the sole founder of Dorathy & J. I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do growing up, one small decision after another has led me here! Here is... running a small business with 4 staff members, 4 in store services and an online store for you to shop our products online - we also travel for pop-ups and host community events in store.
Facts About Me
I love pale rosé, eating out and online shopping (who doesn't?). I'm a Mum to 2 gorgeous kids aged 10 and 5, am a huge family person and have a big renovation project going on in the South of France. I'm such an introvert but very social online and love creating content. My favourite colour is green. I'm a workaholic and am addicted to matcha (specifically matt.cha), Instagram and my kids.
After working hard on Dotty Fourrue, I decided I wanted to try something new. I completed my body piercing course in December 2019 and started working out of my converted at home studio - I stayed here for 2 years!
I grew and learnt so much in my first studio at home, but soon I realised it was time to expand into something a little bigger.
I completed the HUB renovation for my new piercing room in October 2022 and am still based here. The Dorathy & J studio is so friendly, fun and welcoming and something I'm extremely proud of.
In 2023, we extended our studio and doubled in size to accommodate our new piercer and team member Ella. Ella completed a 5 day piercing diploma, I joined her as I think there's no such thing as too much learning.

On February 4th 2024, we launched our permanent jewellery service in store.
The soft launch was at one of our piercing parties which we hosted at the studio and collaborated with Charlotte Tilbury. It was so much fun to see how intrigued people were about the service and how much joy it brought them watching their jewellery come to life with the welding spark.
Permanent jewellery is something we wanted to do for such a long time! With such a busy schedule it took us a while to get round to it, but it was definitely worth the wait.
With our handmade tiled table, perfect dainty chains and special complimentary polaroid, it really is the most special experience.
We launched our charm necklace building in store in April 2024. We're all about being creative and having fun whilst building your jewellery stack, so when charm necklaces made a comeback we just couldn't resist making it apart of Dorathy & J.
We have over 70 charms available for you to choose from so you can express your personality and style. Building your charm necklace from start to finish allows you to have a better bond with your jewellery as it's unique to you! It's so interesting hearing why people are drawn to the charms they choose and we love being apart of their experience.
In September 2024, we launched our jewellery engraving service in store and online. This made total sense alongside our permanent jewellery service, giving you another way to make your jewellery unique to you.
Whether it's something sentimental to you or a gift for someone you love, engraving gives your jewellery another layer of meaning.
We're only just getting started with this service and can't wait to see where it will go!
Alongside our community parties, we've been so lucky to collaborate with incredible like-minded brands to bring the D&J experience beyond our beloved studio.
In 2025, we partnered with Space NK to host gorgeous, girly private events for our community in their Liverpool store as well as travelling further afield to offer permanent jewellery and engraved necklaces in-store.
From collaborating with fellow independent business to national brands like Space NK, creating these shared moments (both locally and further afield) is something we feel incredibly grateful for and can't wait to bring you some big things in 2026!
